Credit Union Completes Merger

Personal Care America Federal Credit Union Completes Merger with Fairfield University Employees Federal Credit Union

Trumbull, CT On July 16, 2010, Personal Care America Federal Credit Union completed its merger of Fairfield University Employees Federal Credit Union.  The combined credit union which is based in Trumbull, CT has assets in excess of 18 Million dollars and will serve more than 3,600 members in Connecticut and Missouri.  Additionally, Personal Care America Federal Credit Union has added the students of both Fairfield University and Fairfield Preparatory School to their field of membership.  The addition of the students brings a pool of about 6,000 potential new members to the credit union.

“We are very excited about the combination of the two credit unions,” said John E. Keet Jr., President/CEO of Personal Care America Federal Credit Union.  Personal Care America brings an extensive suite of services to the partnership including electronic services and on campus ATMs.  “I am confident that the members of FUEFCU will find our expanded services both convenient and cost effective” Keet said.  “We can’t wait for the students to return to school and find they now have access to a full service financial institution right on campus”.   Keet also announced that two FUE board members Vice-Chairman Michael Tortora and Treasurer Philip Lane will join PCA’s board.

"The decision to merge was not an easy one, but in light of the economic downturn, several loan defaults and investment losses, we had to do what was best for our membership, so they could continue to access credit union services locally” said Michael Tortora.  “We are very fortunate to have found a partnership with Personal Care America, and we appreciate everything they have done to make this transition a smooth one.  PCA's portfolio of services and demonstrated commitment to its membership will be an asset to our campus community."
